No doubt that summer is in full swing. This past weekend, we drove to the Jersey Shore for work and mostly fun. The weekend was sunny with little humidity making it an ideal time to be at the beach – or to be anywhere for that matter. On our first morning, after a restful night of sleep, I sat on the balcony with a cup of coffee taking in the peaceful and calming view and sound of the ocean and the bright blue sky. It was at that moment when I got to wondering why we don’t do the drive more often.
We stayed at the Hotel Icona Diamond Beach in clean and quiet Wildwood Crest. I was a bit wary of anything “Wildwood” and its reputation for being, well, wild and noisy so I chose a hotel closer to Cape May – a historic seaside resort known for its Victorian mansions and famous lighthouse. Wildwood Crest was a hugely pleasant surprise!
The soccer beach blast was our main purpose for being there and on Morey’s Pier I chanced upon a stand that sells green smoothies and acai bowls. I have heard so much about acai bowls and was excited to find and to try it for the first time and on the boardwalk of all places because I had given up on finding a healthy meal option in the area.
Before heading back to Philly, we stopped at a farmer’s market to load up on fresh fruits and vegetables. The asparagus and corn made for delicious grilling while the sweet cherries were the perfect ending to a fun and relaxed weekend.
